How much experience do you have?

I have been professionally photographing families and newborns for 6 years. I have extensive training in newborn safety and posing from the most experienced newborn photographers in the industry and am continually investing in education, so I can provide the best quality possible for my clients.

What do you do to ensure the safety of my baby?

As a mother myself, I take your babies health and safety very seriously. I am fully immunized, including the Tdap vaccine and yearly flu shots. I wash every item used each time in Dreft and I keep my studio impeccably clean.

Any poses that you see in my portfolio in which the baby appears to be unsupported are a composite—meaning that they are actually being held, and the hand is edited out in Photoshop. I will only use poses that you and your baby are comfortable with.

Do I need my own props?

Absolutely not! I have a full array of props available for your use in my studio, including hats, wraps, headbands, blankets, baskets, and baby beds. I also have a client wardrobe of maternity dresses in a variety of sizes. I will also try to incorporate any of your own props that you’d like to bring to your session.

What products do you offer?

For me, the job isn’t done until your beautiful portraits are up on your wall where they belong! I would love to meet in person to let you see the full line of artwork products that I offer, including wood prints, albums, and image boxes. I custom design your artwork to fit the style of your home decor, and every step of the process is designed to be easy for you. Please contact me for more information about the artwork I currently offer.

Are family shots included in the newborn session?

Yes! I know that you may not feel your very best in those first few days of motherhood, but I promise to get beautiful images of you and your new baby. Those images are SO precious and important! I also include dad and siblings if desired, usually toward the beginning or end of the session.

Will you travel to my home for my newborn photography session?

It is my preference to do sessions in my studio because I am able to most easily control lighting and temperature. However, I am happy to come to your location if that is easier for you. Most ordering appointments take place in your home, for your convenience.

How do I prepare for my newborn photography session?

I have a welcome guide that I will send you that has all of the details. I also will send you a brief reminder email the day before your session and always feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

How do I prepare for my family photography portrait session?

Everything begins with a phone consultation or an in-person meeting at the studio. Here we can discuss what you ultimately want to do with your photos and then decide on a perfect location. I have lots of beautiful locations that I can suggest in the Frederick area and I am always open to try new locations or to photograph you at your home or at another spot that is meaningful to you. I also offer a what to wear guide  and encourage you to send me your wardrobe ideas if you are looking for suggestions or help planning. We can also arrange for hair and make-up services if desired.

Where do you photograph?

Portrait sessions are offered in my cozy Middletown studio, beautiful outdoors settings, and in clients’ homes. The boutique photography studio is centrally located for the convenience of clients from Frederick County and surrounding areas.

What should I expect at my family photography session?

Expect to have fun! I am a mom and adore kids of all ages and I know how stressed you are inclined to feel prior to your photography session. While I do get some of those traditional “looking at the camera” poses we will also dance, play, run and explore during the photography session.

How do I plan for my high school senior portraits?

I recommend attention to the details for girls. Hair, makeup, neutral nails and accessories (I love a good floppy hat and some great jewelry) will give your images a polished look. For all my seniors I recommend at least three outfits; something dressy, something casual and something fun. This could be your college sweatshirt, or something that represents your personality and interests like  a musical instrument, sports uniform or anything that screams YOU! Sessions can be done outdoors or in the studio depending on the desired look.

When should I book my newborn session?

I can only take a limited number of newborns each month so book early if you can. I fit in last-minute bookings if possible based on my availability. I typically photograph newborns when they are younger than 2 weeks old so once you are booked, I will ask you to contact me once the baby arrives and we will set up a mutually agreeable appointment for your session at that time,

How do I prepare for my newborn baby photography session?

I will send you my welcome guide that has all of the details of what to expect at your newborn session and I also send a little reminder just prior to your session. If you are interested in adding a maternity session I do offer a discount when booking both of those sessions together.

My newborn sessions are magical and you get to sit back in my beautiful sitting area and watch me work with your sweet newborn. While the baby sleeps most of the time during a newborn photo shoot, there is plenty of time for breaks for feeding, diaper changes, and cuddles. I know that I am often the first “stranger” who has held your precious baby and I take this job very seriously. I promise to make sure your baby is comfortable and safe at all times. I have photographed hundreds of babies over the last 6 years and promise to take the utmost care with your little one.
