How do I prepare for my family photography portrait session?

Everything begins with a phone consultation or an in-person meeting at the studio. Here we can discuss what you ultimately want to do with your photos and then decide on a perfect location. I have lots of beautiful locations that I can suggest in the Frederick area and I am always open to try new locations or to photograph  you at your home or at another location that is meaningful to you. I also offer a what to wear guide  and welcome you to send me your wardrobe ideas if you are looking for suggestions or help planning. We can also arrange for hair and make-up services if desired. Portrait sessions are offered in her cozy Middletown studio, beautiful outdoors settings, and on-location. The boutique photography studio is centrally located for the convenience of clients from Frederick County and surrounding areas

What should I expect at my family photography session?

Expect to have fun! I am a mom and adore kids of all ages and I know how stressed you are inclined to feel prior to your photography session. While I do get some of those traditional “looking at the camera” poses we will also dance, play, run and explore during the photography session. Keeping kids engaged and happy is equally as important as it is to keep the parents feeling at ease.

How do I plan for my high school senior portraits?

I recommend attention to the details for girls. Hair, makeup, neutral nails and accessories (I love a good floppy hat and some great jewelry) will make your images lots of fun. For all my seniors I recommend at least three outfits; something dressy, something casual and something fun. This could be your college sweatshirt, or something that represents your personality and interests like  a musical instrument, sports uniform or anything that speaks to YOU! Check out this senior high school session for some ideas. Sessions can be done outdoors or in the studio depending on the desired look.

When should I book my newborn session?

As soon as you can! I can only take a limited number of newborns a month so book early if you can. I know that life gets busy and I do sometimes have last minute availability, so always feel free to contact me if you are looking for a last minute session. I typically photograph newborns when they are less than 2 weeks old so once you are booked I will have you contact me once the baby arrives and we will set up a mutually agreeable appointment for your session at that time. I know won’t turn away “older” newborns. I have successfully photographed “newborns” like this little guy at up to 8 weeks of age.

How do I prepare for my newborn baby photography session?

I will go over all of the specifics with you at your consultation. There is also a lot of information on my FAQ page. I will send you my welcome guide that has all of the details of what to expect at your newborn session and I also send a little reminder just prior to your session. If you are interested in adding a maternity session I do offer a discount when booking both of those sessions together. My newborn sessions are magical and you get to sit back in my beautiful sitting area and watch me work with your sweet newborn. While the baby sleeps most of the time during a newborn photo shoot, there is plenty of time for breaks for feeding, diaper changes, and cuddles. I know that I am often the first “stranger” who has held your precious baby and I take this job very seriously. I promise to make sure your baby is comfortable and safe at all times. I have photographed hundreds of babies over the last 6 years and promise to take the upmost care with your little one.
